Figuring that starting episodes with flashbacks is kind of lame, the writers pull out the French Maid Fetish Brigade for a wonderful explanation about this episode's setting: The Lost Forest.
And there's a Sailor Moon-type character in the Kafra Service too! I wonder if there's a factory that mass produces those.
...Not that I totally want one for myself. Nope, not that kind of guy. No siree.

Sorin explains how the Lost Forest got its name: People get lost in it.
Sailor Kafra Moon voices my thoughts before I have to type them, much to the displeasure of Sorin.

For those of us devoid of Mad Maze Skillz, Sorin explains what the "left hand rule" for mazes is and that even though the Lost Forest is a kind of maze, the rule is completely pointless to know. Meaning there's some sort of dimensional rift in the forest, I guess.

Sailor Kafra Moon understandably doesn't give a damn about this, then tries to tie back game mechanics into the anime.
Sorin, completely furious at how SKM made this entire lecture completely fucking pointless, replaces her with a doll. Poor child.

But before we cut to the anime intro theme, a voice inside of Takius' head (SPOILER) makes her say "Sograt Desert." Look forward to that...in two episodes.
